چکیده

The measured and reported rate [1] of the He A → B transition depends on the diameter of the experimental cell. Theoretically, this can only be explained by a direct drag on the interface exerted by the lateral walls, leading to a pressure discontinuity across the interface. This has not been considered before, either here or in similar circumstances. The general hydrodynamic theory that includes the influence of finite geometries is presented.

A rigorous hydrodynamic theory of the A-B transition is presented. All dissi-pative processes are considered. At low interface velocities, those occurring on hy-drodynamic length scales, not considered hitherto, are most probably the dominant ones.

We investigate the effective potential for a scalar Φ 4 theory with spontaneous symmetry breaking and finite temperature. All 'daisy' and 'super daisy' diagrams are summed up and the properties of the correspponding gap eqation are investigated. It is shown exactly that the phase transition is first order.

We discuss a recent approach to quantum field theoretical path integration on noncommutative geometries which imply UV/IR regularising finite minimal uncertainties in positions and/or momenta. One class of such noncommutative geometries arise as ‘momentum spaces’ over curved spaces, for which we can now give the full set of commutation relations in coordinate free form, based on the Synge world...

Results from the Columbia lattice group study of the QCD finite temperature phase transition with dynamical domain wall fermions on 16 × 4 lattices are presented. These results include an investigation of the U(1) axial symmetry breaking above but close to the transition, the use of zero temperature calculations that set the scale at the transition and preliminary measurements close to the tran...

The finite-temperature chiral phase transition is investigated for three flavours of staggered quarks on a lattice of temporal extent Nτ = 4. In the simulation we use an improved fermion action which reduces rotational symmetry breaking of the quark propagator (p4-action), include fat-links to improve the flavour symmetry and use the tree level improved (1,2) gluon action. We study the nature o...
